Scott Hamilton won Olympic gold in 1984, survived cancer multiple times, and has spent decades teaching people that winning is a mindset, not a result. He's one of America's most in-demand motivational speakers, a bestselling author, and the founder of the Scott Hamilton CARES Foundation.
Meet Scott Hamilton
Scott Hamilton grew up in Bowling Green, Ohio, where a mysterious intestinal disorder at age two left him in and out of hospitals for years, his growth stunted, his future uncertain. At nine, his family took him to an ice rink. Within a year, the illness largely disappeared. He began growing again. Skating saved his life and then it gave him a purpose. From 1981 to 1984, he didn't lose a single competition, winning four consecutive U.S. and World Championships before capturing Olympic gold at the 1984 Sarajevo Winter Games.
Today Scott is a New York Times bestselling author, one of America's most sought-after motivational speakers, and a passionate cancer advocate. After facing cancer multiple times, he founded the Scott Hamilton CARES Foundation in 2014 to fund innovative research that treats the disease while sparing patients harsh side effects. Over 40 years after his gold medal, his greatest performances are still ahead, on stages, in boardrooms, and in the lives he continues to change.

The Scott Hamilton CARES Foundation is dedicated to changing the future of cancer by funding advanced, innovative research that treats the cancer while sparing the patient.
Scott lost his mother to cancer when he was 18. That loss sparked a passion to make a real impact so others would not have to go through the same experience. In 2002 he partnered with the Cleveland Clinic to launch Chemocare.com, an easy-to-understand resource for patients learning about chemotherapy. That same partnership led to the 4th Angel Mentoring Program, which connects cancer patients and caregivers with trained survivors for genuine emotional support. These efforts ultimately led to the founding of the Scott Hamilton CARES Foundation.
